 Large Intestine Cold Vacuity


Pin Yin: da chang xu han
Symptoms:
fatigue; aversion to cold.
thirst, diminished; prefers hot drinks.
pale urine; diarrhea or loose stool; borborygmus.
Pain: relieved by heat; relieved by pressure or touch; of abdomen.
Signs:
Tongue Body: pale
Tongue Coat: thin; white.
Pulse: weak; slow.
Pattern derived from: Spleen Yang Vacuity, which is in turn derived from Interior-Cold-Vacuity (Vacuity of Yang). Key indications for Large Intestine Cold Vacuity, which are the same for Spleen Yang Vacuity, are notated by red type. Additional indications of Large Intestine Cold Vacuity appear in purple type.

  
Herbs:

--Warm Interior
-Supplement Yang; especially those herbs that enter the Spleen.
-Supplement Qi

--Drain Dampness, Promote Urination; especially herbs like Poria that drain Dampness from Spleen Qi Vacuity.
-Transform Cold Phlegm; especially herbs like Rz Pinelliae that resolve Cold Phlegm that can be a secondary result of Spleen Qi Vacuity.
--Aromatic-transform Dampness; especially herbs like Fr seu S Amomi that activate the Spleen.
--Regulate Qi; especially acrid warm herbs like Pc Citri Reticulatae.

-- Warm Middle and dispel Cold
-- Warm and Transform Water and Dampness (True Warrior Decoction; Bolster the Spleen Decoction)
