 Large Intestine Cold Dampness


Pin Yin: da chang shi han
Symptoms:
fatigue; aversion to cold.
absence of thirst.
diarrhea or loose stool; borborygmus; constipation occasionally, irregular bowel movements.
Pain: oppressive, distended pain; of abdomen; aggravated by pressure or touch; relieved by heat.
Activity and movement: , sluggish.
Signs:
Tongue Body: may be obscured by coating.
Tongue Coat: white; thick; greasy-wet.
Pulse: slippery; sinking; slow.
Complexion, other: complexion pale or dull yellowish.
Pattern derived from: Spleen Damp which is in turn derived from Interior Dampness . (Cold Dampness could have also been derived from the pattern of Interior-Cold-Vacuity.)

  
Herbs:

--Aromatic-transform Dampness; especially herbs like Fr seu S Amomi that activate the Spleen.
--Warm Interior
--Drain Dampness, Promote Urination; especially those herbs that strengthen Spleen and are not harsh.

-Transform Cold Phlegm
--Regulate Qi
-Supplement Qi; especially those herbs that are acrid-bitter-sweet, and not too heavy in nature.

Formulas:

-- Warm and Transform Water and Dampness
-- Warm Middle and dispel Cold
-Warm and transform Cold Phlegm (Poria, Cinnamon Twig, Atractylodis Macrocephalae, and Licorice Decoction)

-- Transform Damp Turbidity
-- Promote urination and leach out Dampness
-Dry Dampness and expel Phlegm
