Common name: Peking spurge root
Botanical family: Euphorbiaceae
Botanical name: 1, Euphorbia pekinensis Rupr.; 2, Knoxia valerianoides Thorel

Primary action: Harsh expellants
Secondary actions: Drain Dampness, Promote Urination
Temperature: cold
Taste: bitter, acrid, toxic
Entering Channel: Lu, Sp, Kd

Actions:
   Expels water by inducing watery diarrhea; used for moderate accumulation of fluids in the chest and abdomen and edema accompanied by thick sputum and greasy tongue coating.
   Used topically, clears Heat and reduces swelling; used for swollen, nodular, and painful Damp Heat skin lesions.

Dosage: 0.5-1 qian.
Toxicity: Poisonous; probably less toxic than Rx Euphorbiae Kansui.
