Pin Yin: yu jin-
Common name: turmeric tuber
Botanical family: Zingiberaceae
Botanical name: 1, Curcuma longa L.; 2, C. aromatica Salisb.; 3 (less commonly), C. zedoaria (Berg.) Rosc.

Primary action: Quicken Blood, Transform Stasis
Secondary actions: Rectify Qi; Cool Blood
Temperature: cool
Taste: acrid, bitter
Entering Channel: Lu, Ht, Lv, GB

Actions:
   Quickens Blood and breaks up Blood Stasis; used topically and internally for traumatic injury and non-healing chronic sores.
   Moves Qi and Courses Liver Qi; also can be used for Depressed Liver Qi with Heat.
   Clears the Heart and cools Blood; used in cases of Heart Phlegm Fire obstructing the Heart orifices.
   Promotes flow of bile and Gall Bladder Qi.
