Common name: coix seed, Job's tears seed
Botanical family: Gramineae
Botanical name: Coix lachrymajobi L. var. ma-yuen (Roman.) Stapf.

Primary action: Drain Dampness, Promote Urination
Secondary actions: Supplement Qi; Dispel Wind Dampness; Clear Heat, Dry Dampness
Temperature: cool
Taste: sweet, bland
Entering Channel: Sp, St, Lu, [Kd, LI]

Actions:
   Promotes urination and leaches Dampness; for edema, difficult urination, Damp Leg Qi.
   Fortifies Spleen and stops Dampness-type diarrhea; use dry-fried for enhanced tonifying effect.
   Clears Heat and expels pus; especially for Lung and Intestinal abscesses.
   Expels Wind Damp Painful conditions in the Channels; also used for plantar warts.
   Clears Damp Heat in the Spleen, Stomach and Intestines.
