Reading List for the General Public with reviews by Todd Luger, L.Ac. There are many books for the public that discuss diet, herbs and other alternative therapies. Some are based upon erroneous ideas. Others present ideas that are not safe for the public. The books chosen below are some of my favorites for the public on herbs, nutrition and chinese medicine. All these books are based upon careful research in either modern or classical literature or both. They present information that can be immediately useful to laypeople and advise when it is appropriate to seek professional care. While written in a style accessible to the public, these books also provide excellent resources for professionals as well. They all have my highest recommendation. None of these books should be construed as a substitute for proper medical care. Self-medication can be a dangerous undertaking, even with herbs. If you are ill, please consult with a healthcare professional before following any regimen described in any book. You can indirectly support CHA by shopping for your books from this page.
